ISO is a worldwide alliance of national standards bodies. The work of preparing International Standards is generally carried out from first to last ISO technical committees.
Each member body paying attention to a subject for whom a technical committee has been entrenched has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and non-governmental, in link with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) lying on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.
